Antenatal and Birth Suite Clinical Skills
Mater is one of Australia’s largest and most experienced maternity service providers, putting Mater Education’s series of maternity skills training courses at the forefront of both antenatal and intrapartum education and training.
The Mater Education Antenatal and Birth Suite Clinical Skills course is designed to arm participants with the theoretical knowledge and foundational skills needed to deliver exceptional birthing care. Our expert teaching team, made up of highly experienced obstetricians and midwives, guides participants through this dynamic training course using cutting-edge simulation equipment and scenarios that replicate the fast-paced maternity care environment.
On completion of the course participants will have developed skills and knowledge in the following:
- vaginal examination
- sterile water Injections
- artificial rupture of membranes
- fetal scalp electrodes
- insertion of balloon catheter for induction of labour (IOL)
- insertion of prostin for IOL
To underpin the course’s detailed theory work, pre-reading of current, evidence-based practice is required.
Who should attend?
Our Antenatal and Birth Suite Clinical Skills course is designed for health professionals keen to upskill or refresh their antenatal and intrapartum skills. This includes new graduate midwives, midwives and Medical Officers.
This course covers:
- Vaginal examination
- Sterile water injections
- Artificial rupture of membranes
- Fetal spiral electrode
- Insertion of Balloon catheter for induction of labour (IOL)
- Insertion of prostin for IOL
This program will provide seven CPD hours.
